It’s easy to be fooled by the Bachelet brothers' easy charm and laid-back air, but they are seriously focused, organic growers with standards of viticulture and winemaking that compare with Burgundy's elite producers. Their feverish attention to detail shines through in the wines below. Brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet have delivered another superb set of wines with their 2024s. As most will know by now, the cool, wet, generally low-yielding 2024 season has delivered superb whites and juicy, seductive reds. The 2024s offered as good a tasting as we have had at this Domaine. The whites are magical, combining racy freshness, excellent ripeness, and loads of mineral energy, while the reds are perfumed, crunchy, and fabulous value. Everyone will be expecting great whites, but it is a genuinely outstanding year in both colours, the brilliant reds reminding us of 2017, and the whites of 2004 (although with a touch better balance). Burgundy lovers should not miss the Bourgogne, Maranges and Santenay wines. They deliver crazy value in today’s market.
