Located on the steep slopes of the Val di Pesa (between Florence and Siena), Corzano e Paterno is a picturesque organic farm on the very edge of the Chianti Classico area. Here the Goldschmidt and Gelpke families produce not only the beautiful Chianti we import, but also outstanding olive oil and Pecorino cheese that they sell to many top Italian restaurants. Corzano e Paterno is an ancient and beloved Estate (in fact two historic Estates merged together) and is still run by the two families who own it, with the winemaking and vineyards led by Aljoschia (Joschi) Goldschmidt (pictured below), Arianna Gelpke (his cousin), and now Joschi's son, William. There are 20ha under vine, all rooted in the local clay and limestone soils, and all situated at 300 metres ASL. Nothing here is about chasing fame or fortune. Everything is about sustainability (in every sense of that word), honouring the place and producing authentic products. The wines are both delicious and pure, and, even though they are wonderfully precise, they are not at all glossy or oaky, but rather full of Tuscan character. They are wines that carry the place, the tradition and the soul of this family farm in Tuscany.
