As always, this 100% single-quinta wine was drawn from Noval’s own vines (from three core parcels near the winery). The 2018 declaration represents only 7% of Noval’s entire production. Each year, the blending proportions for the Vintage Port will vary depending on those varieties that did best. Both Touriga Nacional and Touriga Francesa flourished in 2018 and so Noval’s 2018 blend is dominated by these two varietals. Tinta Cão and Sousão grapes made up the numbers this year. All grapes were trodden by foot and fermented in traditional lagares with temperature control set at 28ºc. The wine was then matured for 18 months in wooden barrels. The 2018 comes in at 100 grams per litre of residual sugar.
