Drawn from a small parcel (0.47 hectares) of vines replanted in 1990, the first Domaine bottling of this wine dates back to 1970. The vines sit in the Gémeaux lieu-dit, which borders Griotte Chambertin. The soils here are particularly poor and rocky, typically producing wines of great minerality and longevity. This cuvée now sees a longer time on skins but with a gentler extraction. It’s all the better for it. The 2022 was aged for 18 months in oak barrels averaging 20 years and was bottled unfiltered.

Domaine Ponsot Grand Cru Chapelle-Chambertin 2023

Reviews

“The 2023 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very well-defined and more open bouquet compared to the Cuvée Allouettes. With cranberry and raspberry fruit alongside incense and light lavender scents, this is born to be seductive. The palate is medium-bodied and quite sapid with a little more crunchiness to the texture. There is a keen line of acidity and a vibrant, persistent finish. This ranks alongside the impressive 2022.”
