L’Abeille means honeybee. This wine comes from half a hectare in Les Epointures, a well-placed site under Clos-Prieur and near Chapelle-Chambertin. The 2023 is the fourth release since the vineyard was replanted following the 2012 vintage, using massale cuttings at 11,000 vines per hectare. For now, Ponsot uses only the best fruit from the site in this cuvée, with the rest declassified into the Bourgogne rouge. The 2023 is a fine and juicy Gevrey of great finesse. Already drinking well.

This offers gushing red cherries and kirsch on the nose, quite forward with veins of orange pith. The palate is balanced with fine tannins, open-knit and quite fleshy. There is light grip on the finish, which maybe needs just a little more Gevrey typicité. Drink over the next four to six years.”
