With their dense, clay-based soils, Chassagne’s lower lying climats are ideally suited to reds. This wine comes from a parcel of vines planted in the 1960s, a 1.06-hectare plot in the middle of the village. Again, Olivier worked with roughly 50% whole bunches, raised the cuvée in used barrels and did not sulphur the wines until bottling. Olivier Lamy’s reds are getting more precise and offering more finesse; this is a terrific example.

Reviews

“The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet La Goujonne is fleshy and perfumed, bursting with aromas of plums, red berries, spices and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, with powdery tannins and a succulent core of fruit, this is quite immediate out of the gates in a lighter, more fragrant register than recent sunny vintages.”
89 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“Ooh – wow – that’s a beautiful and quite forward width of airy, beautifully fine red fruit – gorgeous. Just a mm or two of cushion here – so wide, faint bitters accent clean red fruit and a finishing bitter that really helps push the length of this mouth-watering wine. So long – what a beauty!”
