The Hunter component (52%) is sourced from the Cote D'or, Sweetwater, Ridgeview and Dam Block vineyards. The McLaren Vale component (48%) is from Barry Clarke’s vineyard in the Blewitt Springs subregion. In terms of the winemaking, the components were fermented in stainless steel separately and blended very soon after pressing, pumped over twice a day and matured in used French hogsheads for 16 months.

Reviews

“A 52/48% blend of Hunter Valley and McLaren Vale (Blewitt Springs) fruit. The two components are separately fermented but blended soon after the end of fermentation; matured for 16 months in French hogsheads. A fascinating blend, with major synergy, as each component takes centre stage, but the dusty/chocolate/fine/savoury notes prevail. This is a mighty $25 wine.”
96 points, James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au
“Mostly ripe black fruit with whiffs of smoked meats and black olive. A hint of liquorice and mint. Juicy, pure fruit-forward flavours, lingering and dusted with fine black pepper. Tannins are chewy and lively too. Good energy bottled for a good price. Get some.”
