Issue 77 includes pieces by Alex Maltman (Five Fabled Vineyard Soils), György Márkus (Renascent Tokaj: The First 30 Years), Amanda Barnes (Stars in the Southern Sky: South American Winemakers) and Miquel Hudin (Ricard Rofes: The Modern Monk). Raymond Blake tells us "Take Down the Pedestals! Wine is for Drinking" and David Williams shares his "Astonishment and discovery, not geekdom and mastery: An interview with Andrew Jefford", while Barry C Smith reflects on Covid-19 and what it means to be without smell

Tastings include Organic and Biodynamic Champagne, Dry Loire Chenin and Barossa Valley Shiraz. A more complete listing of contents can be found below.

Original, thought-provoking, absorbing and impeccably detailed, The World of Fine Wine has set a new standard for wine publications. Along the way it has won many awards including Best Wine Magazine in the World [Gourmand International] and International Wine Publication of the Year [Louis Roederer Award] on multiple occasions. First published in 2004 and now in it’s 77th Edition, each beautifully printed and bound issue is lavishly illustrated, and so rich that it resembles a book more than a magazine. It is not the cheapest wine journal on the market, but when you hold a copy in your hands, you’ll understand why.

The star-studded list of writing contributors includes established names such as Hugh Johnson, Andrew Jefford, Raymond Blake, Michel Bettane, David Schildknecht and Michael Edwards (and many more). The magazine also supports a wealth of less conventional talent, like merchants Terry Theise and our own Rob Walters, and regular Australian contributions from Nick Ryan and Ken Gargett. There are also regular contributions from writers outside the wine industry, which is one of the things that make the magazine so distinctive.

In our opinion, and in the opinion of many others, The World of Fine Wine is simply the most thorough and intellectually stimulating wine publication in the world today.

Reviews

“The World of Fine Wine takes wine journalism in a new, more sophisticated direction. It is not a consumer magazine, but the first cultural journal of the wine world. …. I know I don't want to read the same old marketing jargon ever again.”
Hugh Johnson OBE
“The World of Fine Wine is by far the best wine magazine in the world. It's scholarly, opinionated, well written and a delight to read. It's also the only magazine I bother to keep.”
Tim Atkin MW
“When your brain grows numb reading endless tasting notes and point-scores from writers determined to tell you precisely what to buy, it’s more than refreshing to open a copy of The World of Fine Wine and be reminded why you care in the first place.”
Terry Theise
“The World of Fine Wine is a compelling magazine. When you start reading it, you just cannot put it down. It is very different, really innovatively written, and so informative.”
