Les Beauregards is one of the coolest of all the Chablis Premiers Crus, due to its altitude (300 metres ASL) and location (at the very end of Chablis’ Left Bank). It’s also one of the steepest sites, meaning the clay soils are shallow, and the limestone is never far from the surface. While Moreau-Naudet's tiny, 0.16-hectare parcel has been in the Estate for decades, it was replanted in 2001 with mass-selection cuttings from the family’s most treasured vines. Now that the new vines have reached 20 years’ age, Virginie Moreau believes they are delivering the sufficient intensity to join the Moreau-Naudet 1er cru lineup. So do we! High on the hill, this is one of the last Moreau-Naudet vineyards to be picked. The wines we have tasted thus far have all shared excellent tension, and floral and pithy citrus notes that course through the palate. There is also a more savoury, spicy edge to the fruit. Salinity is a given. Raised in tank only.
