Monopole. Sitting above Les Bonnes Mares, Les Véroilles is the highest and coolest Premier Cru in Chambolle, and Ghislaine Barthod owns the entire parcel (0.37 hectares). Some of the vines sit on bare rock, which—irrespective of vintage—explains the incredible minerality and freshness of this cuvée. Of course, the altitude and proximity to the forest also contribute to the wine’s wildly aromatic, juicy persona. The vines now have an average age of 50 years, and in 2023 the generosity of the vintage has combined beautifully with the finesse of the terroir to produce a wine of tremendous finesse, seduction and perfume.
