Roumier and Barthod are the major players in this small Premier Cru in the heart of Chambolle, just east of the village between the Premier Crus of Les Chatelots and Aux Beaux Bruns. Like Chatelots, Aux Combottes sits on the silt-rich alluvial fan of the La Combe (the central valley) of Chambolle. This makes it more accessible when young compared to the more structured wines produced by Barthod in the Crus to the north of the village. Barthod farms 0.18 hectares, yielding just two barrels in a good year. This is one of the finest expressions we’ve seen from this site, in line with the style of the vintage, with excellent structure to go with the depth of fruit.
