Along with Perrières and Charmes, Les Genevrières is one of the three greatest Meursault vineyards, and arguably the one that makes the most fine-boned, floral, and “Puligny”- style wine. It’s another example of a Leroux ‘Dessus” vineyard (meaning it sits at the top of the vineyard), accentuating the vineyard traits. It’s a little confusing, as Leroux used to also make a wine from Genevrières Dessous, but these vines have been replanted. Anyway, this is the Estate vines and only bottled in magnum, and what an epic magnum it is. The 2024 sticks to the vintage chez Leroux theme, as it’s an explosively deep, powerful, and structured wine that feels as though it will live for decades. Excellent indeed.
