Inside Burgundy’s Jasper Morris tells us: “Good Cazetiers gives a feeling of refinement and precision which has an intellectual appeal as well as being vinously satisfying.” This steep, 8.43-ha vineyard is directly up-slope from the village of Gevrey, flanked by Clos Saint-Jacques and Combe aux Moines. Leroux’s plot has 40-year-old Pinot Fin vines situated mid-slope, on what he describes as “a gorgeous terroir.” The vines have been worked biodynamically for several years and the 2024 is a beautiful example of high-grown Gevrey; so pure, fine and long. 40% whole bunches used.

Benjamin Leroux Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers 2024

Reviews

“One third whole bunch, with enough fruit to make one 456-litre barrel. The nose is discreet but refined. Lifted raspberries, only very slightly peppery, it is the fruit which leads the way. A stylish, lighter bodied Cazetiers. Drink from 2030-2035.”
90-92 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“The 2024 Gevrey-Chambertin Cazetiers 1er Cru has a slightly smudged nose at first: white pepper and mulberry fruit, just a touch of reduction. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. Well-balanced with a judicious touch of spice, this feels quite linear on the finish but it is quite persistent.”
90-92 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
