Straight from the Full Moon Vineyard up high on the southern hills, the fruit comes from deep-rooted vines that have clawed into the red and brown volcanic soils. These resilient, no-nonsense vines release snaps of liquid energy thanks to the altitude. The 2024 vintage was a classic Yarra year, and the higher plot meant harvest was three weeks after the lower Yarra.
Hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed, the juice, with full solids, then went into two- and three-year-old puncheons for wild ferment. The wine went through full natural malo, bringing some mid-palate weight and complexity. It was bottled in November 2024, clean and honest.
The boys describe this wine as having notes of “lemons, orange blossom, toasted almond meal and nougat” with a palate that is “tight and fresh, but melts away with a beautiful lemon sorbet texture.” It has a nice savoury edge to it, making it a dead-set dream with a roast chook or grilled veg. We hear a Sunday roast calling!
