Another standout release from Hoddles Creek, Franc d’Anna’s 1er Pinot Noir is sourced from the family’s Top Paddock Vineyard. The fruit comes from a small, west-facing SRM block of just 28 rows, gently sloping north and representing the warmest Pinot site on the estate.
Reflecting this warmer aspect, Franco d’Anna incorporated approximately 25% whole bunches in the ferment, lending the wine finer tannin structure and added complexity. In the winery, the wine is handled in the same way as the Estate Pinot Noir, with the key distinction being this inclusion of whole clusters.
The wine is matured for 18 months in cask and bottled without fining, filtration, or stabilisation, preserving its purity and depth. The result is a Pinot Noir of structure and finesse, built to evolve gracefully with time.
