The Petit Maupertuis lieu-dit lies on the Flagey-Echézeaux side of Vougeot, just below Grands Echézeaux. Domaine François Lamarche and members of the Gros family also farm vines in this terrific terroir. It consistently produces a Clos de Vougeot with far greater finesse than is usually associated with this historic site. This wine comes from a 0.15-hectare parcel of old vines (60 years) situated beside the Clos. Like last year, the wine vinified with 80% bunches and was raised in a single, new 456-litre barrel previously used to ferment the whites.

Reviews

“80% whole bunch vinification. Rich bright purple with a heady, characterful nose. This is very exuberant, heady deep red fruit bouncing cheerfully across the palate, and though there are tannins the structure is not too massive. Drink from 2033-2040. Tasted Oct 2024.”
94-96 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“Showing a touch of balsamic on the nose, the underlying layers of blueberry cobbler, woodsy spice and bramble add to the breadth and depth of aromas. The palate delivers elegant tannins and also some brighter, perkier fruits like dried cranberries. Mineral intensity races from start to long finish.”
95 points, Christy Canterbury MW, Tim Atkin Burgundy Report
