Blaufränkisch grown in a vineyard in the village of Höflein, approximately 12 kilometres west of Prellenkirchen. The vineyard is located just below the church on a soft, south-facing slope. The soils here consist of limestone with some layers of clay and loess. The fruit is fermented wild and macerated in large wooden vessels with no temperature control. Elevage is for 20 months and the wine is racked once before being bottled without filtration.
