Les Cortis Vin de France Naxide Blanc 2022

The second white blend in the Les Cortis range again marries Chardonnay (60%) and Altesse (40%), but the plots and vinification differ from Mérune. La Guele is a small plot at 350 metres with 45-year-old Chardonnay and Altesse vines planted in deep limestone soils. Then, the original Les Cortis plot lies on more silty, stony soils at just over 300 metres, and its Chardonnay vines are pushing 65 years old. Unlike the Mérune, Naxide matures in barrel and demi-muids on fine lees. The quality of the barrels and micro-oxygenation lend further complexity and dimension to Decosters’ “serious white”. Once again, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
