Jasper describes Pompette as “our little bistro red blend.” The name is an homage to the French joie de vivre: in French, pompette describes someone who is “pleasantly tipsy.”
The 2025 is a blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache from vines that are 80 years old, grown on sandy soils. It was a hot, dry season, with a very early harvest. The parcels were hand harvested and sorted before being destemmed. Both varieties had 18 days of maceration and a natural fermentation, before the wine matured for 14 months in an 1,800L foudre. The result is beautifully balanced, hitting the sweet spot of fruit generosity, acidity and aromatics, with dark brambly fruits and violets from the Syrah.
