The wine comes from the Cahilton Vineyard in the Lower Yarra, where the low-cropping MV6 clone sits over slight brown, duplex clays. After a strong flowering season, warm spring and dry December, yields were good, with great potency. The grapes were harvested early to maintain good freshness and floral notes.
In the winery, the grapes were completely destemmed and fermented for two weeks with gentle, daily pumpovers. The wine finished with a couple of months in oak and was bottled in November without fining or filtration.
