The 2025 Commune of Buttons Cabernet Franc marks the first harvest from vines planted in 2018, with this tiny initial parcel yielding just a single barrel of wine. Sourced from a small section of the Gloria Block slope—currently home to only five rows of Cabernet Franc—it reflects both its youthful vines and distinct site. Ripening was slow yet even and generous, producing fruit with a pure, unforced character while retaining the lightness and detail typical of its early vine age. Vinified with a ferment on skins and matured on full lees in tank, the approach favours clarity and expression over weight or external influence. The result is a wine defined by red and darker berry tones, subtle pyrazine lift, and a faint savoury, almost animalistic edge. It sits in a restrained register, offering depth without heaviness and a finely tuned sense of proportion. The palate moves with energy and ease, showing fine, pliant tannins and a supple, flowing texture. Flavours unfold gradually, carried by fresh drive and quiet intensity, leading to a long, composed finish.
