Les Cortis Vin de France Uzée Rouge 2022

Decsoter describes Uzée as “deeper than Obuscule, more focused on black fruits with pronounced liquorice lift”. Sounds bloody delicious, no? It’s a blend of Gamay (66%) and Mondeuse (33%) from the limestone-rich La Route plot near Bugey. Old vines reign supreme here, with the oldest material clocking in at 70 years. The fruit ferments semi-carbonically for two weeks before maturing in fibreglass tanks and demi-muids for 10 months. Again, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered and with minimal sulphur.
