Few will need reminding that Les Genevrières is one of Meursault’s greatest terroirs, at its best arguably the equal of Les Perrières. As of 2023, there is now a single bottling of Leroux Les Genevrières—for the time being at least. In past years, Leroux’s own vines from the upper portion were bottled separately from those in the lower section of the vineyard, known as Genevrières Dessous. Now both vineyards are being progressively replanted (due to the 161/49 rootstock issue), this transition vintage comes from the best old-vines in each parcel.

Reviews

“Picked 31st August. A light green tint and much more elegance on the nose than the robust Charmes, quite subtle in the level of nuance. Dances across the palate, picked at the perfect time, with a gracious long finish, just a hint of honeysuckle, and fine persistence once again. A lovely example. Drink from 2030-2038.”
93-96 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“Pretty, deep yellow in color, this is a clear rung or two up the ladder in dynamism. It tastes of vibrant, freshly-plucked fall apples that dribble juice on your chin when you crunch into them. The palate twirls with sassy tang and a smidgeon of classy oak. Hard to resist now, this has ample power to slumber in the cellar.”
94 points, Christy Canterbury MW, Tim Atkin Burgundy Report
