Biodynamic. Sélection de Grains Nobles wines are much scarcer and richer than the Vendange Tardives, due to both the berry-by-berry harvest, and the stipulated sugar levels at harvest (256 g/L for Riesling, and 279 g/L for Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris). These wines also contain far more botrytised fruit (notwithstanding that 2017 was not a strong botrytis year for Weinbach). This was wild-fermented and aged in stainless steel for 18 months. This extraordinary wine finished with 10.5% alcohol and 144g/L residual balanced by 7.6 g/L acidity.

Dripping with flavours and aromas of orange blossom, spring flowers and wild strawberries, this extraordinary SGN offers exceptional balance between alcohol, sugar and acidity.

Reviews

“The 2017 Alsace Grand Cru Schlossberg Riesling Selection de Grains Nobles opens with an intense and tropical bouquet of mango and passion fruit as well as some iodine notes. Very intense on the palate, this is a very elegant and intense Riesling with a mouthwateringly salty and refreshing finish.” 98+ points
98 points, Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
“Dried fruit, butterscotch, dried citrus, banoffee pie, dried mangoes and a ton of spices. Touch of dried mushrooms. Layer upon layer of unctuous dried fruit coats your palate, but then there’s wonderful tension, created by vibrant citrus flavors. Very long and buttery, but so refined and, somehow, steely. Crazy! From biodynamically grown grapes.”
