Wolfburn Single Cask Whisky

Wolfburn Single Cask Whisky

58% ABV. Japan got one, France got one too, and now it's our turn. When we first got talking to the distillery about an exclusive single cask bottling for Australia, Wolfburn sent over a selection of samples for the team to look at. To be fair, we would have taken any of them and been very happy, yet one sample stood out--cask 131. When we looked at the notes, we understood why--for this single cask bottling (only available in Australia), the unpeated whisky had been matured in an ex-Oloroso sherry hogshead of 250 litres, yielding just 280 bottles of supremely classy whisky. The quality of the distillate and the classy complexity and sweetness brought by the cask makes this something we are extremely proud to have our name on! It's also the only 100% sherry cask Whisky in the range. The age of the release is three-and-a-half-years old and while we technically can't call this a cask strength release at 58% ABV, it's pretty damn close!

On the nose you'll immediately pick up the rich Oloroso notes of dried fruits and malt. On the palate there's a sublime, glycerol-rich texture and gentle warmth with caramel, vanilla bean and again dried fruit flavours as well as heather honey, hints of iodine and loads of spice on the finish. Overall the mouthfeel is wonderfully smooth and mellow. A first class, super smooth whisky, and one that Wolfburn followers will not want to miss.
