SYP Naked On Rollerskates Shiraz/Mataro Blend 2010

As flamboyant as the label suggests, the Punks '10 Shiraz/Mataro blend opens with a pungent nose offering a wild combination of ripe red and dark berry aromas with lots of spice and pepper and a hint of roasted coffee. As usual the palate offers more sophistication than the pulp fiction labels let on. The Shiraz' pure red fruit element speaks strongly, while the sweet earth and liquorice note offer a glimpse of the Mataro's varietal cues. It's lush in texture and nicely framed by powder-fine tannins and finishes with superb length and concentration and a distinctly spicy impression. Seriously good booze with seriously good attitude!
