Robert Weil Kiedrich Grafenberg Riesling Auslese 2008 (375ml)

Robert Weil Kiedrich Grafenberg Riesling Auslese 2008 (375ml)

In contrast to the Spatlese 2008 from this vineyard, here we have a very high percentage of botrytisized berries (approx 40%). This lends the wine power, richness and complexity. The aromatics scream honey, acacia and ripe peaches while the palate is beautifully fine and balanced - silky is the word - in spite of its richness. It will reach its prime only in 10 to 15 years. An ideal match for foie gras or caramelised deserts (crème brule, tart tatin), especially when aged. Again it is a magnificent drink now. Alcohol: 8.5 %, Acidity: 9.9 g/l, Residual sugar: 141.0 g/l

Meredith's note; "The 144 grams of residual sugar is so well integrated and balanced by the amazing acidity that you are lulled into thinking this is not that sweet a wine. On the palate it's clean, pure and not too sweet or unctuous at all. The nose and the palate both sing with a variety of fruit and secondary characters, too numerous to mention - this is a lush and very morish wine. What a treat to taste!"
