As always, this is a superb value from a solid Port vintage. Some you will remember the genre-defining quality of Noval's previous two LVB bottlings - the 2003 and 2004. This wine is cut from the same cloth; it's lushly textured with vibrant notes of cherries and blackcurrant and comes with a delicious figgy richness. Darkly potent, beautifully balanced with great acidity and a lingering, chocolaty finish, it's another release that effortlessly lives up to its reputation of being a 'baby Vintage Port'. Perhaps it's worth noting that Noval didn't declare in 2005 and so much of the finest estate fruit went into wines such as the LBV. Having reassessed the quality in the bottle managing director Christian Seely now admits that, in hindsight, the wines are certainly of Vintage quality. In sum, this is a fantastic LBV that will impress even the most hardened Port aficionado. Ideally, serve this as an accompaniment to cheese, dessert, or on its own at the end of a meal. Please remember to pour carefully or decant, as there may be some deposit; this is unfiltered as with all the finest LBVs.
