Pesquera and Condado de Haza

In 1986, Robert M. Parker Jr. proclaimed that a little-known wine from the Ribera del Duero compared favourably against Chateau Petrus. From this point on, the sleepy history of Spanish wine accelerated at a dizzying speed. Fast forward half a generation and Pesquera is now one of Spain’s legendary Estates and its producer, Alejandro Fernández, is one of the great pioneers, a living icon of the modern Spanish wine scene.
 
We have recently received our first allocation of 2008 Pesquera Tinto, alongside the 2007 Condado do Haza; another thoroughbred Tempranillo in the Fernández stable. Lovers of rigorously authentic Tempranillo from northern Spain are in for a treat.

Alejandro Fernández achieves naturally concentrated, elegant wines which are expressive in youth yet benefit greatly from age. Pesquera was the first Estate he established and the one that launched his fame. Tinto Pesquera is made with a hybrid traditional/modern methodology and is aged a minimum of 18 months in oak, with selected Reservas and Grand Reservas remaining in barrel for at least 24 months or longer.
