Paul Pillot Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay 2010

Under Stelvin. This is simply outstanding white Burgundy for the price. The fruit is grown on a 0.6ha, northeast facing hillside vineyard in Remigny just south of Chassagne. The soil is a mix of clay and chalk and the vines are 20 years old. The grapes are hand-picked, pressed, left to settle and then fermented on lees in small stainless steel vats as well as some barrels (with a small percentage of new wood) for 12 months. This is a punchy, intense Chardonnay with a great mouth feel, fine texture and a chalky, mineral finish. Like the Bourgogne Rouge, this is a super wine for the level and price.
