Greenstone Vineyard: “Welcome to the future of Heathcote.”

A few years ago, James Halliday posed the question, “...with such a young (Greenstone) vineyard producing wines of this quality… one wonders just how exceptional the site is.” Less than a handful of vintages later, the new releases from this site emphatically substantiate that question. Ageing vines, deeper site understanding and a couple of scene-stealing cameo’s from Mother Nature have all played their part in delivering a head turning set of wines - a set of wines that allow what Alberto Antonini calls Greenstone’s soul of place to shine through pure and unalloyed.

In the site-driven 2009 Shiraz and 2010 Sangiovese below we have a duo of single vineyard wines that best represent the style of wine Alberto Antonini, David Gleave MW & Mark Walpole saw in their minds eye when they fell in love with this Heathcote vineyard. The quartet of new releases is completed by Greenstone’s first Colorino release and the 2011 Rosso de Colbo Sangiovese; a wine that picks up right where the lovely 2009 left off. read more
