Georges Vernay Terrasses De L'Empire Condrieu 2010

Les Terrasses de L'Empire comes from the Sainte-Agathe vineyard, a 4.5 hectare site of terraced plots with vines averaging 40 years of age. Fermentation was in 20hl foudre under temperature control. Part of the wine is then matured in casks, the rest in stainless steel vats. It was bottled after twelve months aging on lees. Les Terrasses '10 is creamy and pure, with beautiful aromatics of soft peach, crisp apples and talc. While it's packed with energy and textural complexity, it also manages to stay fresh and cool in the mouth, thanks to citrus hints and sublime minerality. There is so much to unwind here, yet even now, it's a stunning wine.
