Domaine du Salvard quietly go about their business producing true, classic Cheverny that is both delicious and elegant. The Delaille brothers have focused their attention on growing fresh, lively Sauvignon Blanc, deeply rooted in the sand, clay, and limestone plains of northeastern Touraine. Gilbert and his sons have also made their own contributions to the heritage of the Domaine, including the introduction of sustainable farming practices into the vineyards, as well as temperature-controlled vinification equipment to the winery. We continue to tout the Domaine's entry-level wine as one of the great values in our portfolio. 2011 was a super year for Loire Valley Sauv Blanc with the entry level styles offering nicely balanced acidity, loads of fresh, crunchy fruit and good palate weight. Salvard's Unique in 100% Sauvignon Blanc from 25ha planted on the clay and silice of the plains of northeastern Touraine. With more cut and drive than the riper 2010, the nose offers up pure, floral aromas of citrus blossom, pear, grapefruit and mint. It's generously flavoured and fresh, with good mineral snap to the juicy orchard fruit and citrus flavors. Offers great intensity for the price, with tangy acidity giving it a firm shape. A fresh, racy and authentic Loire Valley Sauvignon at a fair price; you can't go wrong with this.
