Cigale Marsanne Viognier Roussane 2010

Cigale is the second label from Spinifex and winemaker Pete Schell is one of the masters of Rhone varietals. Lovers of Rhone style whites are in for a treat here. Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier seem to have a genuine affinity for the soils and climate of the Barossa Valley. These three varieties, hand-harvested and fermented naturally in old French oak have given us a very appealing, fresh dry white wine brimming with stone fruit, lemon zest and jasmine. The palate is long with great texture - it cries out for food. A winner for quality and value.
"Gleaming straw-green; the hand-picked components were separately wild yeast-fermented in old French oak; there is an impressive depth and harmony to the flavours of pear, apple and citrus, an echo of the fermentation via some almond notes on the finish."
