We have been shipping the wines of La Rame for over 15 years now and are constantly delighted at the richness of flavour, balance and value they offer - particularly vis-a-vis their illustrious neighbours across the Garonne. In this rarified region, it has become harder than ever to differentiate quality from prestige, with the unctuous whites of La Rame remaining perennial value for lovers of quality, hyperbole-free sweet wines.
This exemplary estate is across the river from the sweet wine appellations of Sauternes and Barsac. It has long been a popular source for enthusiasts of heady, luxurious botrytized sweet wines without the giddy price tag that comes with a Left Bank postcode. The wines from these vineyards, while no less delicious, are more delicate, fresher, less volatile and aromatic than their thicker-set neighbours. The geography has much to explain for this.
