Felix Callejo (pronounced: kal-ay-ho) is located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero region, just north of Roa. They have spectacular vineyards: 850 metres in altitude, rich in limestone and in the best zone. Everything here is done by hand and sorting occurs both in the vineyard and the winery (via a vibrating sorting table). Only Tempranillo is grown and produced, mostly from gnarly old bush-vines. There are no shortcuts taken (natural yeasts, no fining or filtration, etc) and all stops are pulled out to make the finest quality at each price point. As you travel through the range below, from the cuetro meses to the seleccion, you get a corresponding gain in richness and complexity.
