We buy the Chinon from Bernard Baudry each and every year, sometimes twice a year if possible. If we did not, we would surely be lynched (justifiably) by our passionate clientele. The simple truth is that Baudry makes some of Chinon’s finest wines these days: 100% Cabernet Franc from a range of superb terroirs. These Chinons are the perfect antidote to the oceans of homogenised wine that exist in the world today. The opposite of “simple”, “fruity”, “soft” and “sweet” these are deliciously fresh, savoury, tangy, powdery reds that are fascinating young and wonderful old.
