Barone Ricasoli Campo Ceni Rosso Toscano 2008

Screwcap. This is labelled IGT even though, technically speaking, it could be bottled as Chianti. The aim here is to make something a bit more modern and bright and to be able to bottle it under screw cap (still not permitted for wines labelled "Chianti"). The blend is 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot and the wine spent six months in barrique. The resulting wine is very fragrant with lots of bright, ultra pure, vibrant berry and spice notes while the mouth feel offers a delicious pulpy texture and, again, refreshing acidity to close. An excellent value, medium bodied Toscano.
