Domaine Bachelet Monnot

Our Notes:

We began shipping the wines of brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet in 2010 having been tipped off by friends in Burgundy to this new voice in Puligny. Despite making their first wines under the Bachelet Monnot banner in 2005, the brothers are rising stars not only in Puligny, but also in Maranges and nearby Santenay. The Bachelet family Domaine is based in Dezize-lès-Maranges, southwest of Santenay at the southern tip of the Côte de Beaune. We particularly like the Bachelets' emphasis on purity of fruit expression. There is certainly funkier Puligny out there, but Bachelet Monnot is about purity of fruit expression with clarity, detail, structure and mineral complexity.

Bachelet Monnot apply the same high standards  to their Maranges and Santenay wines as they do to their Puligny. In Puligny they have outstanding premier cru sites along with small holdings of the grand crus Batard-Montarchet and Bienvenues-Batard-Montarchet and they are reminding the wine world of just how delicious well made examples of Maranges and Santenay can be. Simply put, all the wines from this producer are high quality, stimulating Burgundies. Bachelet Monnot is a name to watch.
