Knowing our customers appetite for Rosso di Rocca, we picked up as much of the fabulous 2009 as we could. It is dangerously drinkable and a wonderfully accessible, entry level example of Barbaresco. We say Barbaresco as it's from 100% Barbaresco vines: a blend of 80% Nebbiolo, 10% Barbera and 10% Cabernet Franc, fermented in tank. As it is not 100% Nebbiolo, it cannot be labelled Barbaresco. On the other hand it could be labelled Nebbiolo d'Alba, but (and here's an insight into the integrity of the man) Angelo Rocca isn't comfortable labelling any wine that isn't 100% Nebbiolo as 'Nebbiolo' even though the law permits it. Again this should not be missed by those interested in a well priced example from Piemonte. 900 cases produced.
