We were the first to ship this great value red to Australia. Past vintages have been hailed as 'World's Best Red Wine Buy' and similar acclaim. It comes from Spain's most arid wine district, Jumilla, with a scant 8 inches per year, located at extreme elevation on sparsely vegetated, rocky soils. A lifelong Jumilla wine trade personality, Agapito Rico developed his own vineyards in the area from the early 1980's, following detailed climate and soil studies. Complementing existing old-vine Monastrell (Mourvèdre) are more recent plantings of Merlot, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Agapito revolutionized Jumilla with his fresh, concentrated young Carchelo reds beginning with the 1993 vintage.

Jammy blueberry and boysenberry aromas are complicated by cinnamon and exotic apricot and maple qualities. Silky, impressively sweet dark berry flavors display good depth and thrust. Finishes seamless and sweet, with very good length. Remarkably easy to drink."
